WOYWW !

I Love Wednesday's now I've found this site. It is like an online "Link Party", where you get to have a nose around everyone's desks / creative makes and leave comments.

Well here is a section of my Workdesk for this Wednesday - this is a cake stand I recently made out of some cardboard boxes I had. I used a template from one I had bought in a shop and covered it with scrapbook paper (the Ella collection, I think!). I decorated the edges with ribbon, punched butterflies and tiny bunting. It looks better when their are delicious cupcakes on them.

The wooden box it is sitting on is another I recently altered. I haven't shown my actual dest this week as it is in the exact same state as last week. In order to make the cake stand I spilled through to the kitchen to make more mess.

Anyway - Happy WOYWW - enjoy the Party. I'm off to nose around everyone else's.

Secret Letter's To Mummy!

You must all have them :- scribbles, notes, drawings, worries and lists. Well I kept everyone of my 3 girl's little letters "To Mummy". and 10 years on I realised I had the perfect box to store them in after a little bit of "tweaking!"
Anyway this is the before and after pic's (sorry actually after and befre pic's) - to be honest I need to do the same to another box in order to "hold all those lovely letter's!" - I never realised just how many letters were sent to and from the "faires!" - I'd love to have that time again, I enjoyed every second of it.
Make sure you hold on to those scribbles, letters, notes, worries and dreams - They'll bring a tear to you eye before you know it!!!

This is a fantastic site to visit, it's great fun and makes you feel quite normal about working in a "mess" (you are not alone!) I came across it just a week ago and have decided to submit a couple of photo's of my work area. Pretty in Pink

001, originally uploaded by reb.thomson.

A page that was created at Scrapclub on Thursday 18th,I love black and white photo's and thought this would sit perfectly in the soft pinkish hues of this Delish Paper.

Happy Birthday to ME !!!

Ooooh, I'm so excited, I'm having such a lovely day! I have some lovely new presents to play with. On Saturday my husband took me to Crafts U Love in Surrey http://www.craftsulove.co.uk/ and told me to choose what I wanted and he would sit in the car and wait, then pay for it!!! My 2 youngest girl's Bryony and Rosie came along and before I knew it "I was in heaven." There was so much to choose from. An hour later I had chosen my goodies and just look what I got. I am off now to go and play, I feel I have to create something so he doesn't think it's all a waste of money. Have a good day!

Here we Go again and Honesty has to be the best policy

Hi everyone - hope you all had a great summer. I have just got back to a routine now since I began the crazy project I set myself for my brothers wedding in May this year !!!! Some of you may remember that I was doing a Friends and Family Recipe Scrapbook" as a wedding present. Anyhow, all done now and my brother and his wife were very touched and even told me it really was the BEST present they could have ever wished for. SUCCESS !!!! - will post the pics of the scrapbook shortly, there are at least 60 decorated and embellished recipe pages so I won't be short of any photo's to add to the posts for a while!) Actually I will try to add a gallery or album or something.

As well as all that, of course we had the school holiday's to contend with. I'll fill you in later on hormonal teens, taxiing, our 2 week cruise etc.

So, "here we go again" - I am back to my blog and really want to commit to posting regularly.

Anyway, as the blog title suggests I have decided that if I am going to write a blog I might as well be HONEST and I do want to be - itjust means opening up a little - for those of you who don't know my husband (48) is disabled and needs a lot of care. The last 3 weeks has seen him going from sticks to a wheelchai and we are currently going through some tough times - ( things won't get any better as it is an incurable illness)

Enough said for now, other than, a blog must be the ideal way to get things of your chest.

Using up scraps of Paper

Just thought I'd pop these on today as have been using up lots and lots of scraps of paper - thus creating some cute cards which I can always use on my layouts too. If you're anything like me you treat your paper like gold dust and NEVER throw any out. The pile just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Perhaps you may get some some inspiration from these cards and help you reduce that pile!!

BLUE PETER BADGE Number 2

This has to be more than just coincidence. This bank holiday weekend I decided to do some serious scrappin'. The first page I had woken up thinking of creating was of my daughter with her Blue Peter Badge that she one last year for a computer based competition. She was very proud of it and rightly so. I started cutting out the logo, choosing colours etc - then the Postman arrived. Can you believe it with a SECOND badge she had been awarded!!!! (this time, for a poem she'd written!) How coincidental is that - on the very same morning and time as I was creating her page.
Thought I'd post a piccie of it - but, have to admit it was pretty much touch and go creating this at all. I had put her first badge away for safe-keeping and it took me HOURS to find it - hidden amongst all my stash!!!

Very Quick Make!

Just thought I'd put this photo on of a very quick yet pretty make. Haven't had the best of weekends - teenagers can be very trying sometimes. However, I thought I'd hide away and tidy up my craft room - didn't get very far though. I came across a jar of really small, short ribbon scraps and had to have a little play. This is what I came up with! I wore it whilst making a mad dash round Sainsbury's before it shut at 4, and I was complimented on it by 2 people! As I say it was a very quick make and I found it very therapeutic whilst mulling over the trials and tribulations of teenage daughter's (Bless!)

Introducing the lovely LOLA ROSE

Just thought I'd introduce you all to our gorgeous miniature daschund Lola. She is so cute, funny, very loving and FANTASTIC at football. Only problem is if we take her to the park and let her off she will charge right in to a football match and get the ball. Most players don't seem to mid but it is very embarassing. She adores us all and has to sit as close to us as possible. Anyway, thought you might like to meet her.

Paper Flowers Light String

Just thought I'd show you part of a string of paper lights I created from following a tutorial and customising it a bit. I really enjoyed making these flowers and wanted to use them in my new craft room. I went to Homebase and bought a "really" cheap string of indoor lights. I attached all the paper "petals" around each bulb to create the "flower head" with the bulb sticking out. As I say, I have these on a shelf in my craft room and when lit it really creates a tranquil effect! My daughters have asked me to make them each a string of paper flower lights for their rooms, above their beds. I think they would also look great in the garden wrapped around a parasol (although the bulb wire would be a lot thicker.)
I know the pic is small but I couldn't upload the whole string of lights - It was just a glare!
The link to the tutorial is here:http://www.kaisercraft.net/pdfs/paper-craft/origami-flower.pdf
Love to hear what you think!

Busy, Busy Busy !!!!!!

Just thought I'd post to let you know what I'm up to at the mo!! (photo's to come)
I am currently sewing 80 metres (yes 80!) of bunting together for my brothers Suffolk wedding in May. I don't think they're planning to decorate the whole County!!
Girl's have just gone back to school today so have been busy taxiing them around having sleepover's etc.!
Have managed to get 2 of my three girl's really beautiful outfits for the wedding - just need to sort one more and maybe something for me!!

Ribbon Tidy

I wonder if it's just me or if anyone else gets tangled up in stray bits of ribbon or, when it comes to adding the perfect finishing touch to a page, can often spend literally hours fighting with and untangling a huge pile of knotted mess just to get to that one essential piece of ribbon. Well, I have now found the solution. I found a box with a lid and covered it with patterned paper. I used my wonderful "pokey tool" to make holes all around the sides of the box. I then used those plastic punch hole re-enforcers just to make it extra sturdy. Finally I went to town decorating the lid of the box (that was the best bit for me) with buttons, chipboard letters, beads and of course more ribbon! Each strand of ribbon was threaded from the inside of the box so that a good amount hung over the outside of the box. It's very colourful and useful too. I'm starting to get so organised I won't know myself soon. Problem is I still have enough ribbon to sort for at least 2 more of these boxes - better get back to it! Let me know what you think.

Very Pretty Dust Catcher!

Happy Easter everyone!
Just thought I'd post this photo of what I have lovingly crafted today. When I had finished I asked my husband what he thought of it. His reply was "It's a very pretty dust catcher". MEN! They've no idea! Actually that's his strange way of complimenting me!!
Let me know what you think!

The Key to my Heart

I made this for myself - it relates to my 3 daughters each holding the key to my heart. Again I picked up an old box (I think this was 50p at a car boot sale) and revamped it. The original box had some old dried flowers or something inside the glass casing. I like this much more. I got the idea from Simply Homemade magazine? and used a technique I learned from Debs Winrow. Card stock was Delish Designs.

From Rags to Riches

My Craft Room

Welcome to my blog!

Hi - (oohh this is exciting!) I'm Rebecca and I am a massive fan of scrapbooking. "Obsessed" is probably a better way to describe it.

I can't believe I'm creating this blog page as I have never done one before and haven't had any help. I expect it will change regularly as I learn more about it. I decided to create my own blog as I have spent hours viewing other peoples amazing handiwork and now feel I have so many creations of my own - that perhaps some of you may like to see them. If not - well I've learned how to set up a blog and that's a plus!
