WOYWW

Hi all you WOYWW'ers.
I was having a lovely evening trying out a new technique of making my own metal flowers which you punch out, emboss with a cuttlebug to add texture and then distress with TH distress inks. Then bend into shape and add a centre, brad, beads, gems etc.
Well as you can see I only got so far as punching out the shapes (didn't even get my cuttlebug out), when I heard the familiar voice of:"mummy, can you help me with my homework - it HAS to be in tomorrow!) Of course, this was being asked 20 minutes before her bedtime!!! So that was the end of last nights "new technique" - Oh well - will have to come back to it tomorrow night! It's just you know, when you're really on a roll and want to get on... - (but then that's what mum's are for, I suppose).
You may also just be able to see some lovely new stamps, part of a LOAD of lovely craft stash I got for Mother's Day. Oh, and also a notebook - which holds ALL my favourite sites, tutorial's, passwords etc!!!! (I thought I'd lost it and was getting in a real panic, but thankfully I found it under a load of Craft magazine's I'd been reading!!!

Have a great Wednesday, be sure to pop over to Julia's blog at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/

Just to reply to your comment - I make a mean fruitcake that uses a can of tomato soup and brownies with mayonnaise in then, as well as the more common zucchini bread o cauliflower cupcakes are so strange. It's just the image in my head of cupcakes with little cauli treetops growing out of them LOL!

And I rarely leave that room, and when I'm not in it, I'm thinking of all I could be doing in it!

Have fun with the flowers. Lots of great goodies on your desk. You must celebrate Mothers Day early where you are? USA has it May 8th. Glad you found your journal!! I hate panic. And yes enjoy that homework, someday you'll wish someone would be there to ask questions!!!!

Really wonderful goodies you've got there. Those flowers will keep, being a mum is important, one day she won't be calling out for you to help!! Kids, eh! Bet the flowers will look great though when you get them done.

It's Di again! Just realised you asked about the tiered wire stand and what I use it for. Shame on me, it's a bit of a dumping ground - but you've made me think it could hold some more of my most used stamps! It can't hold quite small things as they fall through - my little easels for putting cards on to photograph do live in there as well but am gonna try the punches! You gave me a Eureka moment! Di x

Love your desk....so much stuff to look at...well I think it is impossible for a mummy not to "hear" a child asking for help even though it is a very "late" asking! Hope that you can eventually get back to those flowers!

wow, those metal flowers already look great! what kind of metal do you use?

lisa said...

Being a Mum has to come first!!! I've read on to see what you did with your metal flowers, see there are some advantages to being so late in doing the WOYWW rounds. They look stunning and I will definitely be trying them out!
Thanks for your lovely comments. My crackle background is doing with matt emulsion paint and PVA glue. It's really easy. Paint a dark coloured matt emulsion first (tester pots are great), dry and cover with slightly watered down pva glue (cheap stuff is fine) dry until clear and then cover with a light matt emulsion and when you dry with your heat gun it crackles. (Don't put the heat gun too close otherwise it bubbles the paint)
Hugs Lisax

That's kids for you! Like Lisa I've taken advantage of doing the rounds late and peeped at your next post and love the flower tutorial - it must have been a marathon job making all those flowers but they are terrific. Hope your weekend was a good one. Elizabeth x #108

I hate it when you lose passwords! Luckily my computer knows most of mine. Those flowers do look rather good. I've cut some out of an (empty) glue tube, but didn't do any inking, might try that! Happy very late WOYWW ((Lyn))
